PP19A42 Poulan Pro 42" lawn tractor stalling upon deck engagement

Hi all,
I replaced my old motor with a new B&S and it runs terrific. I literally rebuilt much of the mower including the deck. As soon as I move the deck engagement lever it stalls out. I check the switch behind the dash for the lever and my multimeter is beeping on both sides of the switch so it does not seem to be the switch. The switch is hooked up with a solid connector. The seat switch is brand new and is functioning because when I get up from the seat the mower shuts down. I am completely stumped. Any ideas?

    So is it electrical or binding at the deck?

    Hi,
    Definitely electrical. I rebuilt the entire deck and is spins like a top. As soon as I move the deck lever 1/4" to engage it shuts down.
    Thank you,

    Ok, sounds like it’s on the grounding side since it allows you to start with no problems. I’m guessing it works fine if you disconnect kill wire from ignition coil?

    I will try that but the motor is brand new. When I removed the belt from the engine pulley and move the engagement level still it stalls. If it not the kill wire any other ideas?

    Thank you Mike!

    Removing the kill switch wire should keep it from shutting mower off from a faulty switch.

    I replaced a 33R877-0009-G1 with a new 33S877-0019-G1 on a pp19a42 and I think I found the issue.
    The old wiring from the motor had 5 out of 6 of the electric pins on the connector in use. The new engine connector only has 4 of the pins in use so I think this is the issue. The white white coming from my harness has nothing to connect to.

    Harness connector -> motor connector
    1 solid black and 1 white striped black wire -> solid black wire
    2 blue wires -> Gray wire
    1 blue wire -> red
    white wire -> nothing

    I have images if needed.

    Thank
    Mike

    That could be it. Do you know where the white wire went to the pin engine connector and where it went?

    This white wire appears to go to safety switch on deck engagement lever under dash which is probably why it is stalling when I move the lever. It runs down to the 6 pin plug but connects to nothing. I don't have the old motor for reference.

    I found the old wiring from the old engine. The wiring is the exact same thing coming off the new engine into the 6 pin connector so that white wire was not connected to the last engine. I have replaced seat and deck engagement switches. it runs fine and drives fine however as soon as the deck engagement lever is moved and the switch plunger pops out it stalls. I took great care not to disturb wiring during engine replacement. So the engine was plug and play according to both motor connections.

    New update: I disconnected the seat switch connector and I am able to start motor without seat switch connected.

    Yeah looking at the wiring diagram white wire goes from ignition s terminal to brake switch then blade switch then to starter solenoid. This gives the 12v to engage starter. Depending on how seat switch is wired it can start without it. Check normally open(NO) or normally closed(NC) switches. Does this have the reverse override button on it?

    Hi Mike,
    I found the culprit and wanted to post my results. It turned out to be the cut off bar located within the seat switch plug. It was all corroded. Once removed with needle nose pliers it runs perfect. Thanks for all your help.

    Perhaps zip tie the switch so the plunger does not pop out (by-passing it)?
