Florida St. Auguistine Grass

Looking for good tips on how to keep St. Augustine grass lush and green, without weeds. I currently have weeds coming through winter/spring and alot of Augustine runners. Chick weed is one of the worst that became present this season. what is the best way to keep this type of grass healthy?
