Pressure Washer Throttle Linkage
I have 2 pressure washers with Briggs 6 HP engines; one is a Craftsman w/ 6 hp Intek & the other a Karcher w/6 hp Quantum. I started cleaning/replacing carbs on them 3 years ago but got Covid & they got pushed into corner with parts in a box.
I'm trying to get them working again but am confused by the throttle linkage that is the same on both engines. (the chokes are different) Both have a thumb size throttle lever above the carb & a spring from the throttle lever to a loop in the governer linkage that is connected to the throttle butterfly. Moving the governer linkage will move the butterfly from wide open to closed but moving the throttle lever has no effect.
I found a couple of photos, diagrams & videos online showing the linkage & they match my engines part for part. A local repair guy told me to "bend the spring & the mechanism until it works". They worked & were not bent before I took them apart so I am hesitant to start bending things here there & everywhere!
Does anyone have any experience with getting pressure washer throttles working?
