Kohler magnum 8 not turning over

Have a 1986 wheel horse with magnum 8 engine. Started stalling intermittently after running awhile. Figure bad/dirty fuel/tank. But, trying to restart and just hear low slow humming or turning of starter I’m assuming like a low battery, but engine not turning over. New battery from my cruiser bike, battery charger, and no change. Starter issue?

    Get the battery "Load tested".  Most auto parts stores will check it for free.
