I did an engine swap on my Hustler 60” zero turn powered by a Kawasaki FR730V. As I went to replace the pulley and clutch, I encountered a problem; the drive spindle is an inch shorter than the one on the original motor. DIY’er rookie mistake on the order. My question to this forum is this: would it be possible/advisable to take 1/2” off each end of the pulley or 1” off the end of the pulley that contacts the clutch (this would be done at a machine shop)? Or is there a pulley that I could order that would allow proper re-assembly? I know these motors are used in several makes of mowers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. However, if the have a keyed (for a square key) pully that's too long you can certainly cut it down with a cut off wheel/tool... If doing so, leave a little extra on the cut, then trim slowly and evenly to get the pully cut nice and square... . Scott Quote #2

I'm not quite sure what's too long and what's too short..
