Start and Charge fuses blowing.

Good morning.
Kohler 27hp on Snapper S150x ZTR.
Turning key switch to start blows both Charging and Start 20a fuses.
I know solenoid and starter are good. Ran test wire from B+ to solenoid connector and engine spins fine.
Coils have black white and red wires so I think that's DSAI spark advance system.
If I disconnect engine harness and regulator, fuses don't blow. Disconnecting only regulator, fuses still blow when turning key to start.
I put a new regulator on but fuses would still blow.
I cannot find any shorts to ground in the physical wiring harness.
Violet wire from regulator B terminal to key switch connector reads continuity to ground. It should not, is that correct?
Could it be one of the diodes or coils in the engine harness?
In run position switch is B+A+L, start is B+S+L.
Fuel solenoid doesn't appear to be shorted, I am getting an ohm reading. Couple of hundred IIRC.

Fuses blow before starter can engage when turning key to start, so I can't check it with the engine running.
I appreciate any help!

Try disconnecting the fuel solenoid just for S & G's.

When turning the ignition on, (to my knowledge), the kill wire to the coil is turned off (allowing the engine to run)

The solenoid IS energized and does get 12 volt power immediately (till the fuse blows).

For your specific machine, I don't know if there are other devices.  You know it's in the engine harness
or at least that side of the circuit...

Was any work done recently to the machine??
