The motor cranked right up after switching out the new carb.
When I was priming, I noticed fuel would still drip out from the intake/choke area. (The manual says to prime 2-3 times, perhaps the fuel I see is excess fuel from over priming. I usually primed different engines until it met resistance to pumping.)
At first I thought the hose was loose and was prepared to replace the priming bulb and hose that came with the new carb, until I saw where the fuel was coming from. Uugggg.

Is there a switch for the light? All I see is a wire to the alternator lead-always on?
It appears there WAS a back cover for the light, but i don’t see it in the parts diagram.

The primer bulb is not designed to get hard after awhile (like a boat engine primer bulb).

All your doing is pushing extra, un-needed fuel into the engine. The excess is simply coming back out.

Page 9 of your owners manual refers to the head light wire in question.

Ye, it says prime 2-3 times….i got carried away and what I am seeing IS the excess pouring out of the open ended carb/choke plate area.

ye, I saw that on the bottom of page nine about the wire but no mention of an on or off switch or a replacement cover for the back of the light.

thanks for responding
