20+ year old Mitsubishi MEK 5800 generator needs help

Hi all,
Trying to get the above captioned generator back in service. I have had it running, but the carburetor needs work.....gummed up with ethanol!! In trying to remove the main jet I destroyed the brass at the screw slot, and had to use an extractor to remove it. Also, I broke off one of the fuel supply nipples. As this is pressed in, I'm thinking of trying the extractor again, or heating in the oven at about 350 to see if the aluminum body will expand enough to let me get the piece out.
In any event, I have tried for a few days to identify both carb and jet on line with no luck....the only numbers on the jet are "A27"....it is a Mikuni carb.
Any helpful advice appreciated,
Thanks

The highest nipple broke off should just be a vent for the float bowl.

The lower one is the important one..

Can you find and post the full model # for the engine itself?

I'm finding this carb, that looks similar to yours.

MEK is correct , NOT MGE??

Thanks Scott,
Yes it is indeed MGE...old age eyes....and yes , the upper fuel outlet is just for carb overflow....I found this out when I left the fuel tap in the on position when I switched it off after running!!
here's the engine details, but a quick look on the net didn't produce anything.
It seems there's an issue with upload photos today on the forum so here's the numbers:-
Displacement:392cc
Family: VMV392U1G2RA
D.O.M. 980608

Thanks for the reference to the carb, but at US $ + shipping it's too much....I'm in BC,Canada.
I have ordered a chinese carb that states it will fit this model, but I would sure like to get the original working.
Do you think an extractor or heat would work to remove whats left of that fuel outlet?
Thanks

It's very likely just a press fit.  Either a self tapping screw, or small fine tap-then a bolt to
grab it should work.  Pry on the self tapper or bolt outwards, it should come out.

That vent hole should not have fuel coming out of it UN-LESS there's a problem- float stuck open, flooding the engine.  It SHOULD just be a vent for where the float lives...

Now that brass jet.  There looks to be enough there to use a Dremel and cut a very thin notch, W/O destroying it
It just has to be slightly snug in the carb body.  I know it was very likely a Pia to remove but now, threads are
clean and it should go back in...

I gather you found the carb with the part # / link I provided so I don't think you need anything else
there...

Plz post back how it goes..

Also, what I like to do is when I'm fixing or done with float / needlework / cleaning is
take a brake bleeder tool.  It'll pull a vacuum, and show on the gauge if it holds or not.
Flip the carb upside down (or gently push up on the float) and hook a line between the inlet
and the tool.  Pull a vacuum and see if it holds-It should...

As a side note, I got a Generac pressure washer in today-Hydro locked / leaking fuel from the carb.
Pulled the spark plug/spit a BUNCH of fuel out and addressed the carb.

With the float all the way up, it's now touching the carb body (too high) and just not holding
a vacuum, barely...  The floats not adjustable, the needle slightly worn- Found the issue-parts ordered..

The vacuum gauge just confirms no "come backs" and the issue is fixed...

Scott,
Awesome information .....thank you. Makes sense that you mention fuel should not flow out of that vent UNLESS there's an issue....the pin holding the float in place is good and seized, so I'm sure the float was not operating properly. I've just sprayed it with Deep Creep and hoping that will allow me to tap it out.
Regarding the jet....the top where the screwdriver fits into the slot is destroyed.......I had to drill down a little before I could use the extractor. I may be able to clean the threads up a little with a dye, but they are slightly damaged as well. Is there not a certain size hole in the top of that jet that I would have destroyed with the drill bit? If so, then now the hole would be way too big???
Thanks for the reply.....I only wish I could identify either the carb or the jet so that I can find a replacement jet.

Yep, I can't find any breakdown on that carb either.

I would think the main hole down the middle of that jet would be the same, but
I'm guessing.  Look close at it and perhaps you can tell.

As for the frozen float pin, keep soaking with a penetrant. Obviously be super careful
when you try to knock that pin out.  Support the lower tab when tapping at that pin.
