Homelite HHT2655 not running.

Hi

recently i purchased a homelite hht 2655 who had some broken fuel lines. Changed the fuel lines and tried the hedge trimmer. It runs. I shut it off and wanted to start it up again but did not work...
Checked the spark plug: ok.
opened and cleaned the carburator: ok.
I have a little leak at the carb so i'm going to replace that as well. When i am pushing the little knob to flow some fuel to the carb it kinda leaks but a see fuel running through the fuel lines into the knob.
poored some stihl fuel in it: ratio 50:1 where as the homelite says it has to be 40:1. Don't think that will be the issue.
But still not running. Desperated for some help. I will try some starter fluid to get the thing going...
someone has any ideas?

thx!

Your issue very well is likely the carberator  (as you now have new fuel lines).

There are 2 diaphram' inside the carb, a metering diaphram and fuel pump diaphram.
Make sure the primer bulb is not cracked, thus leaking.

Both MUST be FLIXIBLE and NOT stiff what-so-ever. With the old rotted fuel lines,
    the diaphrams are likely junk.

On Flea Bay, the aftermarket "HIPA" brand carbs are pretty good and generally don't need any
tuning.  OEM carbs are better but costs 2-3x's as much..

If your diaphrams are in great shape, there's either one or two TUNING screws
on the side of the carb.  They take a special "screw driver" (kits available again on Flea Bay for maybe $12.00) to adjust.

The screw CLOSEST to the air filter is for HIGH SPEED RUNNING.
The screw closest to the block is for LOW SPEED OPERATION.
When adjusting one, it usually affects the other so you have to tune both.

Generally, adjust the HS first, getting max RPMs, then adjust the LS.
Turning the screw CC RICHENS the Mix, likewise Clockwise LEANS out the mix.

    Wow scott, thx!

i saw one diapharm who was still a bit flexible but idd most parts of the carb are weared out so guess a new carb is needed. The bulb was still in good shape. I'll try adjusting the HS en LS screws while i'll wait for the new carb. I'm from belgium so guess i'll go with a carb from amazon... A new carb costs almost as much as seperate gaskets.
    thx for the awnser scott!
