Craftsman LT1000

My mower has a Briggs 310707. It broke an intake valve push rod last week. I replaced it, set the valves and fired it up. It runs good. A few passes across the yard and I'm getting excessive smoke.
I believe its getting an excessive amount into the valve cover. Any ideas of what could be wrong with it would be appreciated.

The intake valve has an oil seal underneath/inside the valve spring attached to the head.
    The exhaust valve does not.

I wouldn't think that seal would have failed but if that intake valve bent slightly, (something made the
push rod bend), that may be the issue.

There's several ways to replace that seal however, with what happened, it may behoove you
to pull the head and inspect both the head and piston for damage.

It's not terribly difficult to remove the head on the engine W/O pulling the engine.
You will need a new head gasket at least...

Hey thanks, I am ordering a head gasket on Amazon and it comes with a seal. I hope that it takes care of it. Thanks

Plz post back how it goes..

My "freebee" 18HP Briggs, Toro zero turn had dropped the exhaust seat and destroyed the head and piston.

The block was still good so a new head and piston (and other maintenance things) and it's been great the last 5 years..:
