Running hot

Hello all. I was given a 2020 year craftsman M110  140 CD engine. Seems to run good for 20 to 30 minutes then shuts down and will not restart. After sitting until it cools down it restarts then goes through the same thing. I replaced the coil and spark plug. I ran it for about a hour and it didn't shut down on its own so I killed it to see if it would restart and it wouldn't. I had heard it was because it was running hot. My question is why would it run hot. The engine is clean, all the plastic covers are good, no bent or broken parts and oil level is correct. The mower looks almost new. Anyone else experienced this situation ?

You need to actually check for spark when it's acting up.
Your issue sounds like a coil going bad once hot..

Pull the spark plug, ground it to the head and do a visual..

Just cause the coil is new does not mean it's good, especially a non OEM coil.

Are you running a Champion spark plug or the Chinese junk spark plug?

A full engine model # would help to see if the carb has an optional richer main jet...
