I wasnt sure if the 91 octane gas was bad for it or maybe the 5-30 synthetic may have been the problem. Guess ill keep an eye on it from now on. Good mower and Ive never had a problem with it till today. Thanks for the advise Scott
No problem.
I assume the oil level is in-between the marks..
It doesn't need 91 octane but it won't hurt anything either.
5w30 oil is fine (especially for cold climates, synthetic or regular.
Just make sure it's 30wt (in the description), 10W30, or straight 30 weight.
In the generators I repair, I use a full synthetic 10W40 as they will run for hours
and certainly get to temp..
Now, there IS a safety system with an actual
small brake pad that rubs against the flywheel
when the upper safety lever is released (and the coil is shorted out and spark killed).
The cable that activates it often wears out, get rusty inside and does not allow
(when the safety bar is pulled in) the engine to spin over.
Check that, you can see it move usually just at the base of the main engine cover.
That cable, stretched and will keep stretching (just wear and tear) till it breaks..
If you post a full ENGINE MODEL #, I can point out in the parts diagram where it is.
The parts diagram is VERY helpful in general when servicing your mower..
