briggs 11.5hp wont kill

boydog40 New Member Total Posts : 2 Scores: 0 Reward points: 0 Joined: 2025/03/03 21:42:21 Status: offline 2025/08/18 16:26:12 (permalink) 0 briggs 11.5hp wont kill it starts right up but when i turn the switch off, no stop. new key switch, no help pullede the cowl off to expose the coil, only the spark plug wire comes off of it did find a red wire and a black wire that is mounted under the flywheel, stuck test light in the red plug and turn key to on and the test light went off plugged everything back up, cranked up but no kill first pic shows wires going under the flywheel 2nd shows the plugs assume the yellow wire is kill wire what am i missing Attached Image(s) Quote #1 1 Reply Related Threads

That tab IS to kill ignition when grounded. You seem to have a bit of a wiring mess going on there... You may want to just wire a toggle on/off switch to that tab(and to ground) and control engine on/off from there... Scott Quote #2

At/on the ignition coil, UNDER the cover, is a small tab.

That tab IS to kill ignition when grounded.

You seem to have a bit of a wiring mess going on there...
You may want to just wire a toggle on/off switch to that tab(and to ground)
and control engine on/off from there...
