Sky-High RPM at Idle on FS541V
Hi Guys,
I'm working on a walk behind mower with a FS541V on it. As soon as I start the engine even on cold start, the RPMs take off almost immediately. I tried to get a reading with my tach and saw anything from 5-10k rpms. This engine is supposed to idle at 1550. I'll go over the checks I've done and what I've found:
Compression: Even on both cylinders at 87psi (seems on the low end)
Throttle: all linkages are free and the butterfly valve works as it should
Choke: all linkages are free and the choke valve works as it should
Governor: all linkages/springs are in place and moving freely. Governor has resistance when I manipulate the throttle by hand
Air leaks: No large leaks detected (carb spray trick around carb, intake, and intake manifold)
Any suggestions? Next steps will be governor adjustment and high/low side adjustment tomorrow, just seems like the engine speed is SO far off.
Thanks in advance!
