Stihl ms230 wont start

I starts up my saw fine but when I stop it forfew minutes and tries it again most of the time it will not start . I replaced carb and coil and still same problem . I thought it might be air lock but not. I use choke no go, take out plug and dry it off put back it and it works. Weird I know. It was like this since new.

It is probably heat soaked due to the overly lean settings that satisfy the eco nazis.  Try letting it idle for a couple of minutes to allow it to cool down.

Sounds like the saw is running too lean and is overheating the fuel tank causing excessive fuel tank pressure. To test if it is excessive tank pressure loosen the fuel tank cap after running the running to the point it is acting up at. If the problem goes away then it has excessive pressure build up. I have seen old Magnesium crankcase saws to boil the fuel if ran too lean causing problems.

The carburetor may be set too lean but first pressure test it. It should hold 11.6 PSI. If not then it is flooding the crankcase due high normal fuel tank pressure.

Second did you tune the carburetor per the service manual? With the idle speed set at 3300 rpm, adjust the idle mixture for best speed but don't let it go above 3700. If it does reset idle speed to 3300 and adjust idle mixture for best speed. After this reset idle speed to 3300 rpm and using idle mixture enrich mixture CCW so the saw slows to 2800 rpm. Now adjust high speed mixture for best speed but no more than 14000 rpms. IF saw is running above max RPM, enrichen the mixture CCW to slow it back down. Don't lean to slow down.

Also make sure the saw is clean of excessive saw dust. Excessive saw dust can block air flow over the cylinder.

Still the same, I use my 170 to cut a load of wood. Then use ms230 to saw it up. But when I stops 230 for a few minutes it will not start

Looks like I found the problem, the manifold rubber boot is cracked almost half way around. Getting a lot if air there. Going to get a new one and see what happens
