RedMax EBZ8001 Coil

Been having an issue with my Remax EBZ8001 blower, recently stopped working, carb looks OK, but wondering if it is the coil/magneto?
 
I tried testing the spark, took the new spark plug out, plugged it into the spark plug wire, grounded the outside of the plug to the chassis ground and saw a spark, just did not look to bright.
 
The part number for the coil is 521633401, when I look at them online the spark plug wire does not look long enough nor does the spark plug rubber head for this?
 
Is there a way to test the coil off the unit to see if it is any good?
 
This is an older model Redmax (bought it back in 2007) with the original coil.

    I found out how to test the coil with an ohmmeter, the impedance seemed a bit high even though I was seeing a spark when I tested the coil with the spark plug out and grounded.
     
    Ordered a new coil.
     
    Anyone know what the clearance should be when I put the new one in?

    .010" + or -, it's not critical. A business card works.
