Throttle cable for Mantis 2-stroke tiller

Hi.

I have a Mantis 2-stroke tiller.   It is marked 7222 SV-5C/1
 
I have no clue what Mantis' issue is with having clear distinct versions of their product; instead there are multiple sub-versions of 7222.  Their documentation page mentions "7222 with SVC 5C/1 and fold down handles" and "8222 with SV5C folding handles".    
 
Either way, they both use  "467-2" as the throttle cable so I expect that is the correct part number but it's obsolete.
 
Mantis is saying all they now sell is the upper handle conversion kit #400002 which is basically both upper handles, a throttle control plus the cable.  but that's $51 + shipping when all I need is just the cable.
 
There was a "467-2" on eBay,  new open box but by the time I got around to confirming it really was the cable at fault, it had sold.
 
Are there any other options,  such as adapting a different cable?    The curved end on 17800111820 (sorry, URL links are being deleted so see inline photo below) looks similar.   
 
I have a lathe,  mill,   welder and soldering equipment so I may try and make something out of generic cable if I can't easily find a replacement.
