Walbro 207A leaking

There's fuel on top (vented side) of the metering diaphragm. I see nothing wrong with the diaphragm. Gas isn't dripping from above. To be clear, the vent is on top of the carburetor. Fuel has to run uphill to get on top of the diaphragm. There is no visible hole. The metal plate is secure. What's the explanation?

I assume you mean a WT-207-1. It is either the diaphragm or its gasket; unless, the cover plate is damage.

It’s 207A. It’s old. You can find it online. The diaphragm is its own gasket. I’ll check to see if both the carburetor and the cover plate are flat.

Well apparently google can't find it; although, it does come up a WA-207A. Even uses a paper gasket along with the metering diaphragm.

The diagram clearly shows a gasket. I’ve worked on this thing many times over the years. It’s not like me to miss something like that. The real puzzle is where did it go that I didn’t uncover it and go, “oh yea, I know where that fits!”

I apparently stoped the leak even without the gasket by lapping the plate flat and lightly scuffing the carburetor with a fine file and then a light smear of non-hardening gasket sealer on both metal surfaces. We’ll see tomorrow if it holds. Thanks.

Now the gasket and metering diaphragm do fuse together, therefore, can appear to be one piece.

Without the gasket between the main carb body and the metering diaphragm gasket your metering lever would set incorrectly if you use the W tool to set it; therefore, the carb would be over rich if not flooding.

This is a critical adjustment so much that I had to recently purchase the newer W tool for the latest carbs like the WTEA were the adjustment changes by the thickness of the gasket. Actually need to use the gasket to set those metering lever with the old W tool.

No Gasket for sure. I did buy one that will be here in a week. I don’t have a “W“ tool and didn’t know I need to check the bend in the lever. I’ve always just made it run with the mixture screw.

Here is a link to the WT (WA is very similar) Service manual.
