029 Super won't start

I brought it out of storage for a job to clear some trees after a flash flood blocked the hiking trail I am doing volunteer maintenance on.

It started briefly and died. Now it won't start

It "feels" and sounds like it is easier to pull the starter rope

I checked the compression 120psi
I check spark... it's good

The spark plug has a light tan coating... nothing unusual

I opened the throttle and a good squirt of starting fluid nothing really

Any information on how to pressure test the case?

or ... ?

it has spark, compression, fuel. It should give me a little something even with a leaky case?

TIA
Matt

Ah no... I just removed it and tried starting, I got a very weak pop since there was starting fluid still in there.

Tried some more starting fluid... nothing.

Pulled the plug .... it was wet

popped a new plug in seems to pop every time now

when I have time tomorrow I'll put it back together and try it

The darn thing just won't start

I took it apart looking for anything unusual and it doesn't appear the piston comes down far enough to admit fuel to the combustion chamber

First apparently you don't understand how a two cycle works. Fuel mix in doesn't go directly to the top of the cylinder but has to go through the lower crankcase first then via porting to the upper cylinder. Crankcase must properly sealed for this to happen.

Wet plug is a sign of either of four things. Plugged exhaust, lost of spark or wrong spark timing, loss of compression (must be at least 100+ PSI to even to hit), or flooding caused by a leaky carburetor ( needle/seat, incorrect metering height, or stiffen metering diaphragm. Stihl saws usually have around 140+ compression but runs good as low 120 psi.

Since you have now disassemble the engine you may also have a crankcase pressure/vacuum problems cause by lack of proper sealing.

Sounds like the best for you to do since you do not understand how two cycles work is to have a qualified tech repair the chainsaw or just buy a new saw.
