17.5 Briggs and Stratton Inetk wiring issue

I replaced the engine in a 2014 Murray 13AM775S058 mower it had a Briggs and Stratton 31R7070013G1 15.5 Power built with a diode charging system red and black wires. I put a Briggs and Stratton 31R9070057G1 17.5 Intek with a voltage regulator yellow and red wires, yellow and black wires coming from alternator to the voltage regulator yellow wire plugs into yellow wire, black connects regulator hold down screw red is not connected. The mower has a six pin connector left side top hole has a grey wire in it, top left hole is empty. Left side middle hole has a black wire in it, right center hole is empty. Left side bottom hole has a red wire in it, right side bottom hole has a orange wire in it. left side top grey wire goes to fuel shut off, left side center hole goes to the magneto. Left side red wire goes to the old engine alternator, right side bottom hole goes to old engine alternator. i don't know how to hook the new engine, can anyone help me out please.

Hmmm a MTD made Murray rider.

Connect red wire from the voltage regulator to where the original alternator red wire went and provide a jumper to the terminal that originally had the black wire from the old engine's alternator; only if you want working lights.

    Thank you for the reply.
I wired it like you said engine runs fine battery is getting charged but my headlights are on when the key switch is off, so do I have to put in a separate switch for the power wire for the lights.

Yes in this case you do as battery power is supplied through the fuse back to the regulator. Personally I see a need for lighting as most are useless for mowing at night though they to add a measure of safety.
