Craftsman 5500 smart start

Is there a way to bypass the smart start switch? My neighbor ran mine in the ditch. I went to get it out and after entering code it just blinks red. Tried entering a new code. After entering the new code and pressing the start button to except it goes back to blinking red. No other lights are on.

First are you trying to re-use the old code? That might be the problem.

And yes it can rewired to use a standard switch but you must understand the wiring and how the system works as you will need a couple new circuits. I would need the actual model from the serial number tag to even try to figure out what would be need to done to convert to have all the safeties working as intended.

Note: Not all mower shops are electrical knowledgeable and will do a hatchet job. And I have seen more than my fair share of hatchet jobs.

I'm having the same issue. A customer of mine wants me to rewire the tractor to not have the smart switch setup. It's a husquavarna gt48xlsi.

I was going take the harness out of the gt48xls which does not have the smart switch but theoretically should have the same safeties, and use it to replace the smart switch harness. Do you think this would work?
