Old H70 parts diagram. /no spark
Hi all, thanks I’m advance for help.
I have an old H70 from a Johndeer 726 blower the motor is actually labeled as a JD and painted the colour but it’s stamped with H70 (see photo if it uploads properly.
It has no spark, coil and condenser appear to be original, but the points look new. Cleaned up re set and still no spark. I have never seen this engine run myself. But it does have good compression and the car still floods it, so I assume once I get spark it will be a good solid engine.
Can anyone help me find a proper diagram for this motor? All the ones google turns up are for newer, and I don’t think they are a 100% match. I found the parts through my local John Deere dealer, but I’m over $200 Canadian for the 3 parts from them, their part numbers do not correlate to tecumseh. I assume I should be able to source tecumseh parts much cheaper.
I did find a operators manual from another forum, but no parts diagram.

Look over the tins as Tecumseh usually had stamp the model and spec on them.

Not sure what you mean, the top of the shroud has H70 and the serial number stamped on it if that is what you mean by Tin. But it hasn’t helped my find the right diagram.

Can you post the numbers stamped on your shroud? That way someone may be able to find what you are looking for. I see you mentioned that you found them at a JD dealer but the price was $200. Canadian si I assume you are in Canada, too bad. Now I have nothing against Canada but shipping part to there from here can be costly at times. and I have a John Deere blower with I believe that engine. My engine runs, or did last I tried but has a bit of blow-by so I'm sure I have all the parts you would need. I would sell the complete blower with engine for that price! Problem I'm located near Syracuse NY!

I wish I was closer! Yes in Canada The top of the motor is stamped H70 - 1 (I think it’s a 1) 30159A SER 3229R This blower is one of those things it was inexpensive, cool and old and in decent shape. But I’m not really attached to it and for $150 there are plenty local used and working blowers I could have my choice of. But since bringing it home thinking it just needed a cleanup of the points to get spark, my boy won’t let me get rid of it and wants to fix it with me instead of buying another. He is 6 and wants to do a project with me, so now I am looking for parts :) , replacing isn’t really an option now.

AVB IPL (parts list)
Thanks, but what is strange here is that one in the link has a primer bulb. Mine had a springload plate in front of the car that gets pushed in when the motor is turned over to promote (basically full choke) I realize the number on the cover matches that website link but the motor is a generation before that.

Well Tecumseh parts books are a bit confusing at times due to all the variations of the same engine. But if you go to the link AVB posted: https://www.jackssmalleng...70-130159a-130159a-h70 Then click on the middle image it will take you to this page: https://www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/manufacturer/tecumseh/4-cycle-horizontal/h-70/h70-130159a-130159a-h70/engine-parts-list-2 Then if you look at the top of the image in the upper left corner you will see the shroud that covers the carb and yes it does show the priming bulb but is you look in the lower left of that same box you can see #283, 284 these are the spring and knob on the outside of the shroud. Then over to the right side of that same image there are Items #255, 254, 282. These are screws, bracket and choke plate. The problem is with the online version of that page they are not showing descriptions for the parts but only the part number sayin "no longer available" I just happen to have a parts breakdown on paper that is for a slightly different model, 130067A and that does show the part numbers and descriptions! You will also notice that 219A part number that is for the plunger is not shown in the list of parts numbers, as Tecumseh did not use a different drawing for every minor change but chose to show all options in the picture but only the parts used in the model number listed in the description page. Yea! It can be a bit confusing if you don't work on these old engines a lot!

Definitely for me as I came in when Tecumseh was going out of business in 2009. All I can go by is what is left online now.

Thanks guys this helps and makes sense.
Is it just me or is there no part number for the actual coil itself? I don’t see it in the diagram, nor can I find it described in the part numbers below.
