Pooled oil in air filter Honda GC160. 5hp

I have a Troybilt power washer powered by a Honda GC160 engine. I was power washing when it suddenly sputtered and died. I thought it was out of fuel so refueled, fired it up and it ran for a couple of minutes then died again. I tried to restart to no avail. I removed the air filter to check the carb and found oil pooled in the air filter box. Any ideas on the cause?
