Any idea what this wire does?

I have a Troy Built CS 4265 Chipper Shredder that I was doing some maintenance on, changing oil, etc, when I found this wire hanging loose near the oil drain. Any thoughts on what it might be? In the second photo, there is another wire coming out as well which appears to be a grounding wire near the choke. The loose one has some type of quick-connect terminal at the end. Judging from the dirt in it, it has probably been disconnected for a while. I just can't seem to find anywhere it would plug in. The engine appears to be running fine. Thank you!

The engine may be equipped with an alternator for a light or other accessory.

Thanks. Doesn't see to have any accessories. Is it possible the wire is just redundant & doesn't serve a purpose?
