Carburettor Part Number for Kohler SV710-0017 MTD

Gidday.
I'm in Australia and suspect I need to replace the carburettor on a Kohler Courage 20 engine.
However I'm confused by the number of replacement part numbers out there and then among the apparent part numbers, conflicting references to 19mm and 22mm Carburettor kits.
My understanding is that 3285311S might be the correct replacement part number for the engine referenced in the subject line. The engine parts lookup on this site confirms this but also suggests other part numbers such as 3285312-S are also replacement part numbers. Yet when I lookup both individually, 3285311S refers to a Kohler 3285311S which is a 19mm Carburettor Kit and 3285312S refers to a Kohler 3285312S which is a 22mm Carburettor Kit. What differences do I need to be aware and will both fit this engine? Are there critical dimension or other differences between 3285311-S and 3285312-S?

Sorry I don't seem to be able to insert links or attach images yet.

I don't see a 710 listed (for carb applications) but looking at the specs, yours likely falls into the 19MM carb.

    From the Kohler parts website:
Genuine Kohler carburetor assembly with mounting gaskets, Made by Keihin, 19mm, 32 853 11-S, Free Shipping No Tax, 1 to 3 Day Air Delivery.
    • Used on Kohler CV680, SV715, SV720 engines.
    • Replaces Old Kohler Part # 3205303, 3205305, 3205307, 3205311, 3285303S, 3285305S, 3285307S.

I'd measure your throttle body and confirm it's 19mm.  You should be good to go..

    Thanks for posting.

Though I think you missed my point a little..
I wasn't able to post links or attach images yesterday. Maybe I can today ?

The specific Kohler Courage 20 Engine I have is
While the carburettor kit listed below shows  as the replacement, there is a list which shows other part numbers which includes . Yet the  refers to a Kohler 3285311S 19mm Carburettor Kit and  refers to a Kohler 3285312S which is a 22mm Carburettor Kit.

And I'm seeing listings for both where the part numbers seem to be used very loosely.

The official Kohler Power site part lookup suggest that 32 853 22-S is the correct carburettor for my engine.

But I'm not finding any listings for this part number in Australia and which are affordable to import. So the question is which part numbers does 32 853 22-S replace or supersede?

    I agree.

Can I ask if you known what a 19mm carburettor is opposed to a 22mm carburettor? Because I see different part numbers for carburettor which look identical. They have same dimensions but one is supposed to be a 19mm carburettor and the other a 22mm?

19mm and 22mm refers to the throttle bore size, hence one being larger than the other.

I'd suspect getting the kit (as there only seems to be two), for the correct sized bore would be the ticket.

    Thanks for the follow up.
Forgive me if I'm still confused. Hopefully I can post links or attach images today as a new member to better make my point.
Below are images from carburettors with dimensions which are exactly the same as the one I need to replace. However the part number attributed to it as apparently equivalent to a 22mm carburettor replacement kit. More confusing still, the same listing has replacement part numbers which are attributed to a 19mm carburettor replacement kit. And neither dimension shown in the image is either 19 or 22mm.
So which or what is the throttle bore size, a different chamber? Perhaps the vertical central chamber which isn't so easily measured?

Well, I obviously was wrong referring to those spec's / throttle bore.  I don't know the answer.. :(

I know Jacks ships over seas.  Either a phone call (if possible) or an e-mail.  I think they have live "chat" as well....    They've been very helpful finding things that aren't listed or issues such as yours..

It's just that part pricing is unaffordable let alone without shipping and taxes. From Jack it would be well over US$300 with shipping and taxes.

From Aliexpress or eBay which are mostly Chinese resellers anyway, the same delivered to my door would be USD40 maximum USD50 including postage. I just can't make much sense regarding the part numbers.... And given this is a 2007 machine which I am trading with a friend for building services, I'm not in a position to spend much more. A carburettor from Jack's is maybe third or more what the ride on mower is still worth here, were I to try and sell it for cash.

I'll just have to try to figure it out and take a gamble on the part with the correct measurements. I'd try to repair or clean the old one but the screws to remove the bowl just won't shift.

The official Kohler Parts Lookup actually lists 3285322-S as the correct part number.

But Jaks parts lookup here lists 3285311-S.

I wonder if one is just a replacement for the other?

PS I can't insert links. They were removed as I think I am still a new member.

Re links, it's not un-common for them not to post W/O "approval".

Just separate the link with a space and make note of it.

BTW, your above post does show BUT, it says "approval pending" for some reason.
