Briggs CR 950 208 cc plastic camshaft.

My first post on here. I’ve been a mechanic for about 60 years now. Worked on lots of Briggs over the years. Here’s my questions.
I have a 2017 CR950 208 cc engine with very low hours on it. I’m planning and building a go kart around this. Just for fun I tore the engine down for fun. It has a plastic camshaft! Is there a steel replacement or better yet a performance replacement for this? Im fairly certain the serial number is gone as it was printed on and not etched.
