Honda GXV670 crank oil seal

Hello,
First post here. Thanks in advance for any help.
Hustler ZT mower with Honda GXV670 engine with vertical output shaft (see pic). Need to replace main oil seal on crank output shaft. Is it possible to remove the oil seal from the outside or does the seal have a flange on the inside of it that causes you to split the case to replace it?
Also, any idea what the part number is on that seal?
I've got Hustler books, but no Honda book for engine (used mower came with our place).
Thanks,
emptyfly

The seal simply pushes in from the outside.   You'll need to post a model # off the engine to find the correct seal.  It's usually stamped on the block..

Thanks FZ6.

I'll try using a couple of picks today to remove seal from outside. The model/serial #'s are hard to find due to tight space of frame, but I'll find them. Surely there's a part number on seal?

I tried the link you offered. It wouldn't go through. Maybe it's my old Mac/Safari acting up, but Thanks!

The model is stamped on the "flat side" of the engine, usually pretty low.  The stamping is kinda odd...

Once you have the model #, put it in the search bar at Jacks parts.  It'll bring up the parts diagram.
What I posted (and link) is the lower crankcase with the seal in the diagram..

You'll find they made MANY GXV's models, so you'll have to go by serial # as well.  I suspect the seal is the same as most GXV's but find the correct diagram first..

I got the seal out and found model/serial number.
I'll take a look at the link again.
Thanks

subsequent to introducing your new stator. You might need to re-energize the framework. mine ended up being a decent stator and had two capacitors however one was terrible yet needed to charge the framework. I took a 12v battier and connected it to the 110 attachment briefly while it was running and presently im producing electric. some say a 9v battery will work however I couldnt inspire it to work until I tossed a 12v charge to the 110ac out let.
