Honda EM5000SX new carburetor

Replaced old carburetor on my generator with new OEM from Jack’s. Siphoned off old/bad gas and replaced filter. Engine starts easily but begins surging and stops running after a couple of minutes. Can manipulate choke to run a little longer. Any ideas. Thanks. 

Thank for the response. I changed fuel line, filter (again for the heck of it), and inline metal fuel valve. Cranks easily runs smoother and longer (10 minute) before surging and shutting down. If I have choke wide open it does not run but will run as described with choke slightly closed.

Make sure you have adequate fuel flow at the fuel line where it attaches to the carb..

I cleaned the tank valve and filter but didn’t improve. Changed tank valve and filter now running like new. Appreciate the help.
