Stihl MS181 oil pump installation question

Hi Guys,
I've just rebuilt a MS181C chainsaw and on starting it found no oil is pumping through to the oiler stage. I've checked the oiler drive, worm gear and all looks good. Wondering if I have installed the oiler incorrectly so that the oil cannot enter the hole out to the bar. Is there a steeing/depth I should mount the oiler to?

The oiling pump itself has both a small notch and a small hole to where it pumps out.

If you follow the oil path from the tank, you'll see how it'll only work/pick up oil from the pump and transfer to the black hose...

As for depth, as I re-call, it just goes in till it stops.

I gather you have that crankshaft, plastic threaded, with  a metal arm that engages with the clutch hub?

If all is correct, I've sometimes had issues getting it to prime.  To get past that, I'd run the machine at different angles (no chain attached) at higher RPM's.  That usually primes it...

Thanks for this. I've ordered a new pump just in case although the old one looks in good shape. Will try the different angle to get it to prime.
