Coleman Powermate engine problem

I have a Coleman Power-mate SPG2700 generator. Model no. PM0535202. I believe that the engine is a clone of Yamaha MZ175. The engine won’t start. I can’t get it to fire with starting fluid. I’ve replaced the spark plug and ignition coil. (I’ve also replaced the recoil stater and fuel petcock.) The engine has good spark and good compression. I pulled the flywheel, and the flywheel key is good. Fresh gas. I’ve adjusted the valves. I haven’t rebuilt the carburetor. But since it doesn’t fire with starter fluid, I’m hesitant to put any more money or time in it.

    What exactly is the compression?

    When was it last run?

If it's slightly low, adding a couple of teaspoons of oil in the combustion chamber may help it start..

Compression was high, like 150 p.s.i. I don’t know know when it was last run. It was a curb find.

Pull the valve cover to make sure valves are opening and closing.

You should also be able to see, with the magnet on the flywheel, if their opening roughly at the correct time, IE closed at TDC/ compression stroke,

If their ok, try a lil oil down the combustion chamber..
