Convert Briggs & Stratton to pull start

I have a Briggs and Stratton 311777-0143-E1 17hp which has electric start and an electronic fuel solenoid in the carb.  I want to get rid of the battery and convert to a pull start.  Is this possible with this engine if it relies on an electric fuel solenoid?  Do they sell parts to convert this engine to pull start?

The location of this lawnmower is out of state and it is only used 2-3 times per year which is not enough to keep the battery charged so it keeps going dead.  There is no electricity at the location of the lawnmower to install a trickle charger and I don't want to hook up a solar one either.  Pull start is the best option here.

Not probably what you are asking for but, how about just taking the battery home and put it on a trickle charger a couple days before you go back? Or just carry a jumper pack with you when you go there:

Probably cost less than the parts to convert to pull start if they are available and can be used for other things like when you forget and kill the batter in your car!

Maybe I'm just getting old but pull starting a 17 horse would not sound like fun.

Re the solenoid.  You can disable it (no 12 volts needed-anytime) by removing
or cutting off the INSIDE PLUNGER.

As for the pull starter, you may try a 10HP Briggs (like a generator) and check cup, depth, etc and see if you can adapt (drill new holes in your cover) the pull starter...  I don't think this will work as your engine likely has a plastic air vane attached to the flywheel.  Some mods, if possible, would very likely be needed...

Thanks!  I tried cutting off the INSIDE PLUNGER from the fuel solenoid but then the engine flooded with fuel.  Someone posted on another website that you can cut off the inside plunger but you must use an in-line fuel line shuttoff to prevent flooding.  Or do you think the needle-valve in the carb got stuck and that is the cause of the flooding and the fuel solenoid has nothing to do with flooding of fuel in the engine?

The shut off solenoid is closing fuel to the main jet when there is NO VOLTAGE to it.
12 volts are needed to open/activate it..

The solenoid is supposed to stop backfiring when turning off the engine..

If your engine is flooding it's either the carb needle and seat leaking, or if a Nikki carb(weird bowl gasket), the gaskets leaking (which isn't un-common)....

So with the solenoid hacked off, there is no need for 12 volts to it (for any reason) .  BTW, if an engine has sat for a long time with fuel in it, that solenoid plunger OFTEN STICKS CLOSED, preventing fuel from flowing...

The NIKKI also has a separate, small o-ring that seals between the plastic float assembly and the aluminum carb.  If this is missing/damaged, it WILL LEAK internally...
