B&S 19.5 HP vertical motor throttle lever

I just noticed that my riding mower throttle wasn’t going down when I switched from rabbit to turtle so I looked at the linking and I noticed that the arm that connects to the bar going to the choke butterfly wasn’t connected to the arm, what I’m wondering is, is there supposed to be a spring going between the arm that the lever moves back and forth and the rod going to the butterfly or does the bar connect straight to the arm and if so how because I can’t find a manual specifically for my motor?

The choke arm, with the "U-Shape" in it is what I believe your talking about.

The offset end goes in the choke lever on the carb.  The U-shape simply goes in a slot which is part
of the flattish governor assembly.  There are no springs on that assembly.

When the choke is activated, the u shaped part is pushed forward closing the choke butterfly...

Now there is a small spring wrapped the throttle linkage that takes slop out of the throttle

Thank you, apparently that small spring has come loose as well I’m trying to find a picture of how it’s supposed to look in the correct place, do you by chance have any pictures of how it sits?

On the carb throttle plate, next to the linkage hole, will be a smaller hole.  One end of the spring goes in there.

On the other end, the spring goes in the arm adjacent, again, to where the linkage goes.

It simply keeps tension between those parts / RPM variation..

Ok, you’re talking about the spring for the choke butterfly right, because that’s the spring that I have that has come loose right under the choke arm that goes straight down in the front of the carburetor where the air breather tube mounts.

No,  I was referring( post #4) to the THROTTLE linkage.

For the CHOKE, there's one piece of linkage and it has no springs.  It simply attaches to the choke, at the top of the carb- The U shaped end slips into a slot in the governor bracket.  When the lever to operate the choke is activated(Usually forward), the U shape is pushed and that closes the choke butterfly.

.Please confirm if it's the choke or the throttle your referring to...

    Ok, this should help:

#216 is for the choke, the left end attaches to the choke top part on the carb.  The U shaped end slips into the top part of #222(there's slot), there's no other springs.

202 and 232 is for throttle ONLY.  232 goes over/around 202 to keep it taught.
