Craftsman GS 6500 Belt keep jumping off

HI Anyone: I have a craftsman GS-6500 Kohler pro v-twin 26 HP 54"cut, precision plus grass cutting system, every time I cut my grass it cuts great, but when I get in some little thick grass my grass belt jumps off the cutting system. I have replaced the belt, taken the belt off several time over the 5 years I have used this motor, and I do follow the belt diagram to the tee. And it still jump off when I cut some thick grass. What I have notice is the lock bar (with the spring on it)on the precision plus cutting system, locks in place, but after it locks my belt is not real good tight. Is there a belt adjustment on this motor around the precision plus cutting system, that I can adjust that will make the blade tighter???? Where is it and how to you adjust it??? All the precision plus cutting system belt metal roller appear to be on slug and no loose play. There is a short metal like rod in the center of the belt rollers, is this rod the piece that adjust the tighten of the belt?????

The cutting blade lock bar with the spring locks in place, but the belt is not a tight, tight fit. How do you adjust the precision plus cutting system belt blades????

I don't see any reference in the manual for adjusting this cutting system.
I would check idler pulley movement because belt should tighten up when engaging tension bar. This is assuming correct belt is used.

Yes, Mike is correct. Either the bracket (43) connected to the tension spring is binding or one or more idler/spindle pulleys are defective. It doesn't take much rust to bind the tension arm. Remove pulley (39) and lube the pivot point on bracket (43). Verify that spring (98) isn't stretched out.

Thanks for the Reply. I just purchased a new belt. This is the belt that this model craftsman motor call for. All the pulleys appear to be tight, no slack or loose on spindle. Even after putting belt on, the belt to me is still not a tight fit. Meaning I can pull the belt with my hand, and there is a little slack. Do this slack should be there????? There must be a adjustment on the cutting system/ around one of the pulleys that tighten up the belt. The bracket that attached to the locking spring, only allow you to set back so far, because there is a bar part of the cutting system that only allow it to go back so far. What/where is this pivot point on the bracket, and what is it needed for. Now that you stated it, could my locking arm spring be stretched, what should the measurement be for the spring when it is not stretched. How to tell if it is stretched.

MY belt keep jumping off because the Metal/fender object that is mounted on the Precision Plus cutting system keep popping loose and the belt jumps off. What is the piece called???/It is designed to keep the grass cutting belt tight. Can someone tell me if this pieces stripped, as to why it keep coming loose and the belt jumps off.  No matter how hard I tighten it down. This metal piece is placed in between the belt only to tighten the belt after the cutting system starts. IS there anything I can do to stop this.

Is item L where it is popping loose?

If so either the V-belt is too long.Should a 5/8" x 147-1/2". Or one of the idler pulleys has a bad bearing. It don't take much bad spot when under the high tension that this is under for a bearing to temporary lock. I have seen where just one rough spot to even break belts.
