Old Craftsman shredder/bagger needs new fuel tank

I'm looking for a gas tank for an old Craftsman shredder/bagger. Model #917270050 or 917270051. The specific Craftsman part number is 33788.
 
Neither Sears parts direct nor Craftsman has the part. An extensive search has not been successful. Are there any 'salvage' yards for old parts I can contact?
 
Does anyone have a suggestion for further searching?
 
I have a picture of the tank I need, but I've tried unsuccessfully to attach it to this post.
 
Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.
