Homelite UT10582B chain doesn't fit

Might be a stupid question, but I have a Homelite URT10582b CHAINSAW WITH 18" bar. I bought an 18" chain and it's ridiculously too big. Much more slack than the adjustment knob can take up. What am I doing wrong?

There's usually #'s stamped on the bar.

IF, that chain is 18", the bar, I'd guess is 16".
You can count the # of links on the old and new chains
    to compare...

Might want to bring your old chain to the store to compare.
