Hot!Engine will not start

I put in new oil and fresh gas and pulled the starter rope and it will not start. Today I changed the plug after verifying I had a spark, and it will not start. I am at a loss as to what is going on. Engine will not start

Remove the air filter and spritz a little starting fluid down the carb throat.
