FR651V Carb choke plate

How does the choke plate attach to the choke lever? Mine came loose and blocked the throat of the carb.  I removed it to finish my day's work, but would like to repair the problem.  In the diagrams I'm seeing there are no screws, and there are no holes in the lever for a screw to go into.
I don't want to par $300+ for a new carb because of this problem.

Thanks

The choke plate slides INTO the shaft.  The shaft has a slot in it (part 16041):

There's 4 raised tabs on the plate that'll help click the plate into the shaft.
It does take some effort to remove the plate or push it back in.

It likely only goes in one way so pay attention to that,,

I really wish that you were right.  That IS what the drawing looks like, but I tore this apart and looked again yesterday.  It looks as though the plate was stuck to the shaft with something like JB weld and fell off.  This was purchased NEW.
Any thoughts as to how the shaft can be removed?  I'll buy a new shaft and start over.

With the plate off, the shaft just gets pulled out.

I believe the shaft is plastic. Some lubricant and pulling and it'll come out..
