Briggs & Stratton REV 030795-00

My electric start no longer works.  The lights work but when I press the start button, it just moans slightly and the start-button light turns red.  I can easily manually pull start with 1 or 2 pulls but electric is the problem.  Can anyone give me suggestins?

Did you do a load test on the battery?  That's the very first thing to do...

If it tests good, check for 12+ volts at the starter as you crank it.

If voltage is low, could be a bad solenoid, relay, possibly the crank switch.

To rule the starter as good run a heavy wire from a known good battery
(grounded to the machine) to the starter itself.  It should crank over normally.

    Advise back what you find...
