According to Sears, the part is no longer available and I have been unable to find it elsewhere. Is there an equivalent I can use? Can I just measure and find something with the same dimensions? Help finding engine zone control cable

I am trying to locate the following: Engine Zone Control Cable #851664
This is for a Sears Craftsman mower 4.0 HP 20" Cut.
According to Sears, the part is no longer available and I have been unable
to find it elsewhere. Is there an equivalent I can use? Can I just measure
and find something with the same dimensions?
