Dana x-axle input shaft p/n 167148

My Craftsman lawn tractor model #917.275350 has a Dana model #D4360-140 transaxle.  There used to be a repair kit assembly p/n 167148 (originally 170983) for the input shaft, but it's "no longer available" from everywhere I've seen.  The problem was the poor quality needle bearings would disintegrate, and I believe the later 167148 part number corrected this.
In the meantime, after drifting out and clearing the old bearing pieces from the case, I measured and installed two bronze bushings in their place.  This appears to have work so far, however I'd still prefer using the recommended bearings with a new shaft.  Bottom line:  Is anybody aware of an aftermarket substitute or replacement part for the above numbers?
