20 H P Kohler engine runs wide open with throttle in dead slow position

20 H P Kohler engine runs wide open with throttle in dead slow position

I have a kohler Courage engine 20 h p mounted in a 46 cut cub cadet and all of the sudden it  started to run wide open and does not answer the throttle in any position.  All the linkage looks good, the solenoid clicks on and off so I assume it is good.  It cuts the fuel off and no overrun into crankcase.  Any ideas what I should look for????

    Either the static governor adjustment came loose or the governor gear has failed.

    Is the governor holding the throttle open?

    The spring pulls the throttle open, the governor should counter act it to control speed. What AVB said.
