2010 72" EXMARK LASER Z 29 HP KAWASAKI AIR COOLED

A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO  4/2018   (700) HOURS ON MOWER ,I MOW ABOUT 10 ACRES AT CHURCH EACH THURSDAY..WHEN  MOWING  AND WHEN RUNNING INTO A LITTLE HIGHER GRASS MOWER WOULD LOOSE RPM TO ABOUT 1/2 I WOULD SLOW DOWN AND IT WOULD REGAIN RPM .

HAD OIL /FILTER CHANGED/REPLACED AIR FILTERS.

REPLACED FUEL FILTER THEN RAN FINE THE NEXT WEEK..

NEXT TIME AFTER ABOUT 3 HOURS STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AGAIN , REPLACED FUEL PUMP.RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS
THEN SLOWED DOWN AGAIN.

I MOW EARLY SO TEMPERATURE ISN'T HOT,ENGINE DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE RUNNING HOT.

NEXT WILL PULL FLOAT BOWL AND SEE IF IT IS STICKING AND DRAIN FUEL TANK TO CHECK FOR TRASH,THE FILTER LOOKED CLEAN WHEN I CHANGED IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED//ALSO WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ACCESS SPARK PLUG WHERE ENGINE SITS AGAINST THE BACK OF THE FRAME BY THE SEAT???  LOOKS AS  I MAY HAVE TO UNBOLT ENGINE..

Either fuel related or possibly dropping a cylinder.

PROBABLY THE FUEL PUMP, CUT GRASS AT CHURCH  3.5 HRS ,  HAD NO PROBLEMS..
DRAINED FUEL  ADDED SEAFOAM AND FRESH FUEL.
HAD TO REMOVE SEAT TO CHANGE PLUGS , A PAIN , GOT BACK TOGETHER TOOK OUT TO RUN  A LITTLE CRANKED AND RAN FINE TIL I LOADED IT  UP THEN DROPPED POWER..!!! FORGOT TO PUT ONE OF THE PLUG WIRES BACK ON,,[DUMMY]
ANY WAY RUNS FINE NOW.   IT CRANKED AND RAN FINE ON 1 CYLINDER  , THE OLD PLUGS LOOKED FINE  667 HOURS ON MACHINE.

Actually could still have been a plug problem. I have seen some pretty problems related to plug failures. And V-twins do run fine off load on one cylinder.

I even had a spark plug that was causing dieseling in a Stihl hedger earlier this year. It was under warranty so I carry it in for the customer and the dealer's tech couldn't even find the problem. Had it for two weeks and I found the problem in less than 30 minutes including the time to get the unit to cause the problem.

    JUST FOR INFO...
THE FIRST 5 YEARS THE CHURCH WOULD HAVE DEALER PICK UP AND SERVICE IN DECEMBER. I HAVE PUT AT LEAST 600 OF THE HOURS ON THE MACHINE SO CAN PRETTY WELL TELL BY FEEL WHEN IT STARTS TO GET OUT OF WACK.
I'M 75  RETIRED FROM NAVY   IN THE 60'S COMPLETED A 'USAFI'  MILITARY CORRESPONDENCE COURSE IN SMALL ENGINE REPAIR AND WORKED ON THEM AND CARS IN MY OFF TIME, TOOK WELDING AT COMMUNITY COLLEGE WHILE STATIONED ON GUAM. AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT I STARTED SERVICING THE MOWER BUT AT 75 IT GETS A LITTLE TEDIOUS AS MR. ARTHRITIS IS WORKING ON MY HANDS. TOOK 4 HOURS TO REMOVE SEAT AND CHANGE PLUGS AND REINSTALL. 10 YEARS AGO WOULD HAVE ONLY TAKEN AN HOUR. AND IT'S HARD TO FIND ANY OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION TO HELP SO THE OLD KNOWLEDGE GETS LOST NOT PASSED ON.IT'S HELL GETTING OLD CAN'T SQUAT,BAD KNEE SO CAN'T KNEEL EVERY TIME YOU BUMP YOUR ARM ON SOMETHING YOU HAVE A NICE BRUISE LOOKS LIKE YOU'E BEEN IN  A FIGHT .WITH THE LORDS HELP I'LL STILL BE CUTTING GRASS FOR A FEW MORE YEARS,DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM RIDING JUST CLIMBING UP INTO THE SEAT  MAY HAVE TO MAKE A LIFT  FOR A LITTLE HELP. YOU ALL HAVE A BLESSED DAY.

A lot of the younger techs thinks they know it all too. I have work circles around few to their embarrassment in front of their bosses. There is a big difference thinking you know it all and the willing to learn attitude.

As being slow think of me working on two clutches repairing equipment while I had a dislocated bone in my back for several years. I had got down to having use a lift several times just get up so I could use the clutches. I even had call a neighbor for getting a few times. So yes I understand disability quite well. I am so glad it finally went back into place. Now I could only see well and stop having all those dang cluster headaches would help.
