Old Lowes (MTD) mower w/ Briggs 18 hp twin cyl.

I have basically all but totally disassembled the engine trying to find the MN Type n Code stamping. 
Any other way of finding out ?
All I need is a coil for it.

    If this a twin opposed engine then the coil is PN 590781
     
    Coil with two plug wire leads.

    The numbers should be stamped into one of the cylinder head shrouds but those often go missing.

    Hello again Sir AVB,
             Also looking to rebuld the carb n fuel pump.
    A full kit you have listed pn# Stens 520080 Carburetor Kit.
    Everything I'm seeing tells me it is the Kit I need.
    B&S 18 HP Twin (Opposing) Cyl. My carb is the "3 bolt fuel pump, with the Idle mixture screw below". Have to remove the 5/8" head- bowl drain to excess the main jet.
    On your confirmation....I will place the order thru this site.

    Yes the Stens 520-080 appears to be the correct aftermarket repair kit.
