2018 Scag Tiger Cat II

I just purchased a 2018 Scag Tiger Cat II with a 61 inch deck and a 23 HP Kawasaki. Early to tell how good its going to be but I already have a problem. The fuel valve is located on the right hand tank. The right hand tank , if I am not mistaken is called the main tank. The fuel valve has three positions   Off  - Res/left and in the middle position is the main tank when I throw the valve to the main tank (right hand tank) the mower shuts off. Anybody know whats going on?

What does your manual say? There should be three positions. Normally when the handle is vertical, middle, the fuel is off.

    Middle position is off.

From owners manual for SN L8900001 to M6299999
Fuel Switching Valve (Figure 4-2). Located on
the right side of the machine. Used to shut off
fuel supply to the engine and change fuel supply
between the fuel tanks. Rotate the valve counter
clockwise to supply fuel from the tank on the left side
only. Rotate the valve clockwise to supply fuel from
the tank on the right side only.

IF the tank valve is on the left the instructions are then reversed. Either way center is off.

Thanks for all the responses. Today I used it and was still pulling off the left hand tank when it started running out switched to every other position and it would not draw out of the right hand tank. Well looks like I'm going back to the dealership with a brand new mower.

I had an appointment scheduled to carry my scag tigercat II back to the dealership for tommorow for this fuel issue ( not pulling fuel out of tight side tank) But the good news is I fixed the problem today myself. So this was the fix . I reversed the fuel lines lines leaving the fuel vavle. Whoever assembled the mower put the left hand line to the main tank (right) side of the vavle. If you look on the tank near the valve it's engraved on the tank.. So idont know if dcag made this mistake or the dealership. It works fine now. Hope this will help someone who may encounter this same problem.

Good on you, that saved considerable time and inconvenience.
