Koehler Courage SV590S idle adjustment

Carb was leaking so I rebuilt the carburetor. Upon starting the mower it was running really erratically; high and low idling and very loud. I’m trying to adjust the idle screws but the mower now won’t start unless I use starting fluid and it’s hard to keep it running to be able to adjust the screws. I looked at the service manual online and on one page it mentions something about a “governed idle speed adjustment (if equipped).” Does this engine have that? It also mentions the “low idle speed (RPM) adjustment”. Is this the adjustment I use? Do I need a tachometer to read the RPM’s? Quote #1 1 Reply Related Threads

First check that the choke is fully closing. Also check and set the static governor adjustment. If it still surges then you might need to a dramatic governor adjustment to condensate for wear governor wear. Quote #2
