Mysterious clip from my carburetor ???

Sorry, had an issue with uploading the image on my previous thread.  Here's the mystery clip.

Again, I was emptying the gas out of the carb. into a bucket and I heard something fall into the bucket.  Feeling around with my fingers, I discovered this little sucker so I'm assuming that it fell off or out of the carburetor itself but have never seen one of these before.  Checked several exploded views but nada.  Wondering if anyone in here knows what this is and where it goes ?

Thanks again,

Photo is too large to upload. I'll see what I can do to reduce it and try again tomorrow.

Roy will this help? Size reference could help. Could it be one those idle restricter rods that have heard about in the series 11 carbs? Tecumseh were gone by that time I started working the small engines and rarely see one here.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to help me figure this out.  I've overhauled several of these types of carburetors in the past but never noticed this clip ever before.  Scratchin my head when I heard it drop out into the bucket and first laid eyes on it.  I'll see if I can dig up any exploded views on a series 11 carburetor.  Didn't even realize there WAS a series 11!  lol.

Ooops sorry.  Forgot the size.  This clip is approximately 2 inches in total length.

If it's not made by Tecumseh then it must be a Lauson?   What other players are out there for snow blower carb's?  I'll check and see what numbers I can pull off of this sucker.

It must be one of the later carbs, I don't recognize the part either. Can you pull the model and spec number from the engine? It might be hidden under the electric start switch.

Tonight I'll see if I can clean up the carburetor itself and try to get some numbers off of it.

That is 1998 model that supposedly had a Tecumseh HMSK80-15586V originally with a 640052 carburetor superceded to 640349.

Wow, very interesting.  I didn't realize that Tecumseh actually made their own carbs.  I always thought everyone bought them from Lauson!  Shows how much I know.

Funny, last night I was skimming through a Tecumseh manual and didn't seen any clips or rods that resembled the one in question.

Actually original Lauson's engines were sold to Tecumseh in 1956. In 2007, the Tecumseh former gasoline engine and power train product lines were sold to Platinum Equity LLC. Tecumseh closed its doors on February 2009 when Platinum Equity LLC announced that Tecumseh Power Company had sold certain assets of its engine business to Certified Parts Corporation, including all existing and unfinished engine parts inventory, tools to make finished product and certain intellectual property assets. On September 1, 2010, Certified Parts Corporation (CPC) of Janesville, Wisconsin, announced it had entered into an agreement with LCT, (Liquid Combustion Technology) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, to jointly manufacture air-cooled engines for the outdoor power equipment market.

And now I see the Lauson name is making a come back.

Very sad day when Tecumseh shut down. I was very bummed when that was announced. I always thought that they made the best small engines hands down.

I found some numbers on the carb. It IS a Tecumseh carb.. Has the number "27" on the bottom of the bowl and the number "167" stamped into the head of the Main Mixture screw that holds the Bowl on.

Use this guide to determine the pn of your carburetor from the manufacture code.

Not sure which number to use.  I didn't see any numbers stamped into the body.  Only numbers I found were those two I mentioned earlier.  "27" stamped on the bowl and "167" stamped into the screw head (Main Mixture Adjustment Screw).  Any idea which one pertains to the Tecumseh cross-reference guide?

Use these numbers to look up parts for your carb.

Appears to me to be a choke spring...Tecumseh part #36652.  Check it out and see if this is a fit.
