    G'day mate,
     
    As a simple rule of thumb the clearance for both valves is a safe .004".
    This may not be to B&S specs but it stops the fight back on the starter with wider clearances.
    The simplest adjustment method, again open to the other million views and opinions, is to wind the motor open until the exhaust is wide open, then adjust the intake clearance, then wind the motor over until the intake is wide open and adjust the exhaust clearance.
    This has only worked for me for 30 years so I could be wrong, but at least try it unless you find a better option.
