Replacing Kohler 27hp with Briggs 27hp, wiring assistance needed.

Anyone happen to know exactly how I will need to wire a Briggs V-Twin commercial turf series harness into my mower's factory harness which was released with the Kohler Command 27hp engine?  I am trying to cut costs and go with the briggs, since I already have one on another item and haven't had any issues, but the wiring is totally different.

I know I will need to add a solenoid, because the Kohler came with one on the starter itself.  I am not positive on how to wire the rest.

See pictures of my harnesses below.  I have a main plug which comes to another small inline plug (for reasons I am unsure of) and some wires either jump or eliminate.  The Briggs plug has a looped red wire, red, and white, and black.

Just want to make this painless, but it's the last step before ordering the engine, to have my ducks in a row so I know it will even work.

Mower is an early model Husqvarna 6127 61" commercial.  The engine I am removing is the Kohler command cv740s-0006. The engine I am planning to order for replacement is the Briggs 49T877-0025-G1.

I have had a really rough time sourcing the engine electrical breakdown on the wiring harness, or the harness that the mower has.  I have a copy of it in a printed manual, but I can't find it online.

Any help or some sort of a how-to would be greatly greatly appreciated!

Do the operator manuals have the wiring diagrams? We would really need those to help.

Yes, actually the only schematic of the mower I was able to find here on Jacks, see the following link:

I think there are actually 2 pictures in that model that you can view.  I still however have no idea what the briggs wires do.

The closest I have found to an explanation since I can't locate a manual that shows the function of the briggs wires is a picture I will attach.

What throws me is the harnesses on my main pigtail.  There is a plug, then another short wire between the 2 that plugs into the main pigtail and then ends in another plug.  Had to have something to do with the Kohler engine, may not even be needed anymore, I'm honestly not sure.

Also need complete model or product number of the mower in to have correct wiring diagram. Several versions out there like ZTH, LZ, BC, Etc.

Plus are you planning to hard wire the mower harness to the engine harness as you will be going from a Delphi F56 connector to a 6 pin Molex connector? If not and if the local dealer is equipped to make up an adapter harness then one is needed or you need to change over to the Molex connector on the mower side.

The Briggs is fairly simple to wire up with having only a  fuel solenoid, magneto kill, and charge wire other than the large starter wire. Yes you will to add a starter solenoid (relay) to the mower.

Sorry, My exact model is the ZTH6127KOB, 96899924.

I just want the thing to run and charge.  I am not concerned with even buying a connector if I don't have to, but I will if I can find one, and wire it myself so the plugs work.  If need be, I will just cut and splice wires without the use of a harness.

I just can't make out the schematics exactly to tell what color wires on the Husky harness to mate with the briggs.  I'd also like to know exactly what each color wire function is on the briggs.  Red, white, looped red, and the black.

Then the secondary harness they have inline between the engine and the main plug is confusing because it goes from 3 to 2 wires, back to 3 at the engine end (kohler) so I am just lost.

I appreciate your support thus far, maybe you can make things a little more clear or me.

Following diagram should be what you need from the ZTH, ignore the grey wire on the mower side but the grey on the Briggs is the fuel solenoid so Purple to grey. White to Black. And red from the Briggs goes to battery. Ignore the red in the mower side harness of Kohler connector.
But verify that the White is grounded in the off position and that Purple has power in Run and Start. Yellow wire mower is your your starter solenoid wire.

Note this the mower side wire and the engine's. As you see the lump you referred to is just where two wire are tied together.

Ok, I understand everything but some confusion on the reds.  See picture attached.

The original small red wire from the main harness was stacked with the large red cable from the battery on the starter lug. I assumed in order to charge the system.  Your saying not to use this red at all, and instead connect the Briggs red to the starter on the always hot side?

Also, the grey wire (solenoid shut off) on the picture i attached previously is now white on the briggs harness, so I am assuming the white is the fuel solenoid.

Or should this red, and the briggs red both be joined with the large battery cable at the solenoid?

I will most likely bypass all the plugs, may even cut them off, as I don't plan to ever go back to the Kohler.

Thanks so much, you've been a great help for me.  I won't have an engine for a week or two but I will follow up with any problems or hopefully a positive result!

That would the wire that should going the volt regulator on the Kohler so that would be where the red from the Briggs voltage regulator goes. I fairly certain the red wire on connector is from the voltage regulator on the Briggs. Just use an ohm meter to verify when you get the Briggs.

Mowerguy1, Where you able to switch the engine out without issues. I have a kolher command pro 27hp from LZ6127 Husqvarna that is shot. I want to replace the motor, but don't want to spend $2400 to do so. I have been looking at the same Briggs motor.
