Poulan chain saw bar change and excessive oiling problem?

Hello,
I've recently acquired a used Poulan model PP5020AV chainsaw.
I've toyed with the idea of changing the 20", 3/8" pitch, 70 link, .050" gauge chain and bar to something smaller, like maybe a 14" or 16".
Any thoughts on pro's, con's, and availability?
Also, the chain oil is everywhere. I realize it is possible for the residual oil to run off after use, but this saw leaves a puddle. After running, then resting, upon run up for the next cut the saw throws a long string of oil from the bar. The oil is cascading down the bar as well after a run.
I have a Husqvarna 20" 450 ranger that delivers the oil as a fine spray during use, then cuts off after the cut. I'm looking for a suggestion as to how to fix the Poulan so it distributes oil as the Husqvarna does.
I've had the oil pump apart and cleaned. No obvious wear or missing/malfunctioning parts.
I'm currently using Walmart marketed chain saw bar and chain oil.
Thank you!

Due to how the oil pump system it is not possible to operate as the Husqvarna 450. The Poulan system operate the whole time when the engine running while the Husqvarna 450 only operates while the chain is moving.

Now the Poulan oil pumps do wear and leak more than usual and still look fine to the naked eye. Usually it is the cylinder that has the wear since it is aluminum with a steel pump shaft in it. Changing the oil pump and the rubber mating part may help some on the leakage.
