Homemade DIY Lawn Striping Kit

I threw this homemade lawn striping kit together when I had a free weekend last year. Just some pvc pipe, zip ties, and 5 lbs of sand did the trick. I tried water in the pipe at first, but it bounced around a bit.

I had to adjust the length of the zip tie connectors so it wouldn't swing too much when turning. The closer you can get the roller to the back of the mower, the better.

The results weren't that bad for a quick $10 buck job.

Time: 1 hour
Cost: $10
Materials: 4" PCV pipe roughly 21-22 inches long, and end caps.
               A few zip ties.
5 lbs of sand, or w/e fills up the pipe.

The lawn striping kit rolls over and bends the grass slightly to make those baseball-field like stripes alternating darker and lighter. Gives the lawn a bit more appeal, I'd say.

Nice job!  Have you had any issues with the tie wraps breaking?

No issues breaking, but I have to cut them off when I store it for the season.  Maybe I'll add some detachable hooks.

Thank you so much for your information. Can I get any new chainsaw from this site?

I'd go with a Toro Self-Step ( i think thats what its called) ive had mine for 5 years and it runs great, the good thing about it is that the speed adjusts to how fast you walk so you don't have to worry about adjusting the speed and all that.
